Remember Remember November 11th

Today is the 11th of Novemeber : Armistice Day ,Far as I remember it commemorates the cease fire of what was called the 'Great War' agreed on: ' the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month '. It was in 1918 that the barrels
of the western front stopped firing , yet the actual peace negotiations continued I am informed well into 1919.

Now today we are reminded of the sacrifice our people: or forefathers made for our freedom . We are told by campaigners and government officials , that this is not a celebration of war but an aknowledgement . Yes it is important to recognise the appalling predicament these people were in and the the horrific circumstance that many died under and others endured . Yes, we must recognise this and give a minute's
silence in thought , contemplation and rumination .

Yet I can't help seeing some meaningless absurdity in of all this . The pomp and ceremony seems to perpetuate the myth that all was about good versus bad and we are now free from the enemy's clutches. The filthy politicians will place their wreaths on the Cenotaph in London ,holding back their tears and stiffening their upper lips. The Royal family contingent will be wearing feathers, brushes , pinned jewellery .... and carrying swords ...
yet : Balderdash! all of it Balderdash ! ,with no offence intended to the veterans . The first world war was a dispute between aristocratic blood relatives at the expense of millions of poor people . To think only of 'our dead 'is to miss the point , I will be thinking of all the dead from opposing armies in this pointless war . I won't go into the subject of world war two, which is a different matter , but today the masters of ceremony and the rulers will also be mindful of the bizarre situation that only yesterday if I am not mistaken , a British soldier was killed in action , fighting in Afghanistan !
What was this about ?,Did he really die for our freedom ? did he die for anything? I am sure our rulers will fit his and many of his recent comrades' deaths neatly into the the belief system they promote , regardless of the fact that the people ruled by the politicians may not be in favour of this war : So the recent heroes or victims , have again died for the freedom of citizens of which a large proportion do not feel listened to about the current wars in Afghansitan and Iraq. Many soldiers have expressed their resent to the military adventures of this Government which seems to have been annexed long ago by the USA and partly by the E.U.

So we will hear stories of how men (and women now) have fought bravely for our freedom so that we can express ourselves enjoy our way of life and ultimately have no more wars.....and at the same time these criminals will get back to the office taking their orders directly from their American superiors to plan the next bloody
war !
So tell me what did anybody die for ? for us to be governed by a rubber stamping parliament ,obedient to the whims of Washingtons's war mongers?

We need silence to think about the importance of this and the fact that real democracy still needs to be fought for within. May peace be with you too.
